The sound installation, entitled Happy New Year, dissects the events of the first days of 2024. Through the sound-scapes of various places, it conveys the viewer’s experience of events that seem to have far away but thanks to globalization have become an integral part of our lives. The installation consists of a broken mast with a loud-speaker and a sound track. The audio part is made up of archival, field recordings such as: a drugstore in Japan, a market in Gaza and Kiev sirens. These different sound environments merge at one point (in loud-speaker). The installation itself resembles something wounded at the end of life, trying to tell its story from many sides and places. This confession is marred by defects (injuries) that correspond to recent events in the given places.
