The project entitled Lehké Opevnění (Light Fortification) examines the theme of home and its position as both defensive and offensive. The object consists of a roof and four steel plates with loopholes that are interlocked with locks. The shape with the simple principle of self-standing construction is derived from a children’s puzzle house. Home is often understood as a safe place defined by walls, separating the personal safe, the external hostile. The defensive moment is represented by both the shape of the house and the materials. However, this object also has an offensive function, illustrated by the loopholes. These are derived from the archi- tecture of the Czechoslovak fortifications from the thirties. The Swiss Army bunkers incorporated into civilian village buildings also became a strong inspiration.
